Purely Saline IV Therapy Package

FAQs

1How do I know if a normal saline IV is right for me?
We use our medical expertise to work with your specific needs. We’ll discuss your health history and any current symptoms you may have so we can find the right drip IV for you. If, for any reason, an IV bag with normal saline isn’t right for you, you can get an IV with Lactated Ringer’s. This isn’t a saline solution, but it does contain other ingredients such as potassium chloride and calcium chloride dihydrate, which are very helpful for relieving symptoms of dehydration.
2How can I fit normal saline IV therapy into my busy schedule?
It’s easy with Mobile IV Nurses! We work from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, so you can book an infusion at lunch, after work, or on the weekends. And because we come to your location, it saves you driving time to an urgent care center or IV lounge. Finally, each session takes 45 to 60 minutes with no downtime afterward, so it’s quick and relatively easy to fit IV therapy into your day.
3Isn’t IV therapy expensive?
Not when you work with us for your IV infusions. At only $110, the normal saline IV package is an incredible deal, and the other packages on our menu top out at $625. We also offer several different payment options, so you get choice and flexibility. Our customer service team can answer any of your questions and outline the different forms of payment we accept.
4Is a saline IV better than drinking plain water?
An IV shouldn’t take the place of regular, daily water consumption, but it’s a valuable, complementary tool that promotes good health. However, saline does contain electrolytes your body needs, especially when you’re dehydrated; if you select an IV package that includes extra ingredients, you also get vitamins and minerals that you can’t get with plain water. And because IV fluids don’t have to pass through the digestive system, you get nearly instant hydration. Just remember to drink water every day, and that IV therapy is there when you need it.
5Is a saline IV good for you?
A Simply Saline IV bag can be very good for you if you are suffering from dehydration. Mild dehydration can cause you to feel tired, irritable, or unfocused. You may also experience headaches. In severe cases, dehydration can cause dizziness, confusion, severe muscle cramps, loss of consciousness, and even death. One of the best ways to quickly and efficiently rehydrate someone is to use an IV bag of saline. This is why medical professionals so often hook patients up to IV bags. Saline delivered through an IV is absorbed directly into the body, making it much more effective than simply drinking water or a sports drink.
6What is a pure IV?
A pure IV generally refers to a saline-only IV bag, meaning a bag contains just saline and not any additional vitamins, minerals, or medications. Companies like Mobile IV Nurses offer a wide range of IVs that contain many different ingredients. We also offer a saline-only IV, which contains only sterile water and sodium chloride (electrolytes). This IV solution can be an ideal choice for anyone who simply wants rapid rehydration and electrolyte balance.
7What is a saline IV used for?
A saline IV is best used for a customer who primarily needs to rehydrate and replenish their electrolyte balance. There are many reasons why someone could benefit from an IV bag of normal saline. Some of the most common scenarios are: Athletes: Athletes who compete in a long, difficult event or workout can lose a lot of moisture and sodium through sweat. This is especially true if you are competing in a hot environment. Dehydration can hurt an athlete’s performance, cause muscle cramps, or even be life-threatening in severe cases. Many athletes seek saline IV therapy before a big event to start as hydrated as possible and after an event to quickly recover. Hangovers: Alcohol is a diuretic, which can cause you to lose water over a long night of drinking. If you throw up as a result of partying a little too hard, you’ll lose more water and electrolytes. Dehydration can play a major role in the painful hangover you experience the morning after a big celebration or party. If you want fast relief for a hangover, a saline-IV bag can replenish your lost fluids and help you rebalance your electrolytes. Illness: Vomiting and diarrhea from illnesses like the flu, stomach bugs, and food poisoning can quickly lead to severe dehydration. While a saline IV won’t cure the underlying cause of your illness, it can help you stay hydrated so your body can focus on fighting your bug. Dehydration caused by illness can be life-threatening in severe cases. In these situations, it can be difficult for the sick person to keep down water or hydrating drinks and food. This is another reason why a saline IV, which is absorbed directly into the bloodstream, can be so effective. Outdoor adventures: You don’t have to be an athlete to deal with dehydration. If you take a long hike outdoors, perform yard work on a hot day, or simply spend the day at the lake or beach without drinking enough water, you may develop mild or even severe dehydration. Symptoms like tiredness, loss of focus, and muscle cramps can impede your quality of life. A Simply Saline IV can help you feel focused and energized again.

What Is in a Saline IV Solution?

There are only two ingredients in normal saline IV fluids: sterile water and sodium chloride. We use 0.9% sodium chloride solution (also called normal saline), which is common in IV bags. While saline works well on its own, it’s also an effective delivery system for vitamins, minerals, and other supplements.

The tiny particles of sodium chloride make this an isotonic crystalloid solution. The sodium
chloride easily passes from the bloodstream into the cells and tissues of the body, creating fluid balances in and
outside of cells. When the body’s fluid levels are balanced, along with oxygen and electrolyte levels, this is
called homeostasis, and it ensures our bodies function at their best.

Why Is Saline Used in IV Fluid?

IV saline is essential—if a bag contained only water, it would be drawn into the cellular membrane, causing it to rupture and kill off the cell. Saline allows for proper fluid balance inside and outside cells, and it helps the body maintain proper levels of electrolytes. The body relies on electrolytes to fulfill a number of functions, such as maintaining blood pressure, hydration levels, muscle activity, and more.

The amount of saline in IV fluids can be adjusted for different types of treatment. Crystalloid solutions like those in a normal saline bag come in three forms: isotonic, hypotonic, and hypertonic. While isotonic solutions maintain a fluid balance both inside and outside the cells, hypertonic solutions draw water out of cells as hypotonic fluids go into the cells. The type of IV saline solution depends on a person’s specific health needs. This is why it’s important to get a saline IV from a provider that uses medical professionals to administer all infusions. Mobile IV Nurses has a team of registered nurses or paramedics (depending on your service area) who are experts in IV therapy.

Who Should Get a Saline IV Drip?

The Starter Package offers patients a perfect introduction to IV therapy if they haven’t tried it before. It’s also beneficial for anyone with allergies or sensitivities to particular vitamins or minerals. Saline’s potent hydration alleviates many symptoms, making it a great all-purpose IV infusion.

When Do Medical Professionals Use Saline?

Because saline IVs are so effective at balancing fluids in the body, medical professionals often use them to hydrate patients. The human body is about 60 percent water, and those fluids are vital for the body to function properly. Saline solution replaces those fluids and supports essential functions such as muscle movement and nerve impulses.

IV treatments infuse fluids directly into the bloodstream. That provides rapid rehydration, which is helpful when dehydration is an issue. IVs also ensure maximum absorption of any vitamins or minerals contained in the IV fluids. This makes IV therapy an effective method of symptom relief for a variety of health conditions.

Symptoms Alleviated With Normal Saline

A normal saline IV bag targets dehydration, which is associated with several health conditions:

  • Colds and the flu: It’s easy to get dehydrated when you are vomiting or have a fever or diarrhea. A saline IV hydrates so you can recover faster from your symptoms.
  • Hangovers: Alcohol overconsumption often leads to dehydration. Your body gets much-needed fluids and electrolytes from IV saline solution.
  • Athletic recovery: When you work hard, you sweat away a lot of body fluids. Saline rehydrates and helps you rebound quickly from strenuous physical activity.
  • Morning sickness: A pure, high-grade normal saline solution helps expectant moms who are feeling the effects of persistent morning sickness. Plus, it’s safe for them and their baby.
  • Migraines: Dehydration is a common cause of migraine attacks.

You may be in need of a rehydrating normal saline IV if you experience some common dehydration symptoms:

  • Infrequent urination
  • Chronic thirst (especially if it doesn’t go away after drinking water)
  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness
  • Confusion
